Journal 09 - Nicolas Sarkozy became the French president

Who is this politician? The next few journals I have devoted to that man.
France plays an important role in the European Union. The French president is an important figure in European and global politics.
Nicolas Sarkozy is the leader of the Union for a Popular Movement. It is a moderately conservative political party. He supports economic and social reforms; he is an advocate of tough policy on crime and immigration.
Nicolas Sarcozy was born in 1955, in Paris. His father was an immigrant from Hungary, and his mother was of Greek Jewish ancestry. He earned degrees in political science and law. From 1983 to 2000, Sarcozy served as a mayor in the town near Paris. Sarkozy has rich political experience, because he served in various posts in the French National Assembly. He was minister for the budget, minister of communication; also, minister of the economy, finance, and minister of the interior and land management. “Sarkozy defeated Socialist Segolene Royal by 53.06 percent to 46.96 percent, with 84 percent voter turnout.
