Journal 29 - About the term methodology

I have a terminological problem. I have the “methodology” in mind. The dictionary explains this word for two ways.
First, the methodology is the system of methods or procedures used in any field, for example, the methodology of the historian. In that meaning “methodology” is a branch of logic dealing with the application of its principles in any field of knowledge. We can say about of the “general methodology” or “particular methodology” (the methodology of history, psychology etc.).
On the other hand, the methodology means “the methods of teaching”. In that cause, the methodology is the branch of education dealing with the means and ways of instruction.
In short, we can say that teachers generally aren’t familiar with methodology in its first meaning, because it is of the scientists’ domain. However, teachers have to know methodology as the “methods of teaching”.
I am confused, because in the Polish language has two different terms which describe scientists and teachers skills which we were talking about above.
Finally, is correct a phrase “English teaching methodology?”
